Images Not Being Compressed – Common Causes

Last updated April 16, 2026

If files stay unchanged, walk through this list before contacting support.

Auto-compression is disabled

Confirm compression is on under Setting up compression. Without it, only manual runs change images.

Quota exhausted

When your plan quota is used up, new jobs may pause. Check billing and usage indicators in Crush.pics.

Image not in scope

External URLs, certain theme assets, or formats outside support may never enter the Crush.pics library. See Which images get compressed.

Already minimal size

Heavily optimized uploads might show no byte reduction. Compare dimensions and format—sometimes the win requires switching to WebP or reducing pixel dimensions in the source file.

Job errors

Open the activity log to see Automations completed.
