Changelog
New releases and product improvements.
Sort and filter your images
The Files table now has sorting and filters, so you can get to the images you want without paging through the whole library.
- Sort by last updated, date added, file name or file size, in either direction
- Filter by file size, by file type (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, HEIC) and by use: images on products, on specific products you pick, or everything else
- Filters and sort order stay put as you page through results and step between images in the editor
Search works alongside all of it, so you can combine a keyword with any mix of filters.
AVIF compression
Crush.pics can now compress to AVIF, the newest image format supported by every major browser.
- AVIF files come out smaller than the equivalent WebP or JPEG at the same visual quality
- A new AVIF quality setting lets you tune the trade-off yourself on the Custom preset
- Balanced and Conservative presets pick sensible AVIF levels automatically
Rolling out gradually to all stores. As always, every crush is reversible for 30 days.
A new interface, built on Polaris
The whole app has been rebuilt on Shopify’s Polaris design system, so Crush.pics now looks and behaves like the rest of your admin.
- Every screen uses native Polaris components — tables, forms, navigation, toasts
- Page-to-page navigation is faster, with no full reloads between screens
No settings changed and nothing moved far — it is the same app, easier on the eyes and quicker under the fingers.
WebP support
.webp uploads are now first-class citizens. Anything your store serves as WebP gets the same treatment as JPEG and PNG.
- WebP images are picked up by automatic compression like any other format
- Compressed WebP files keep their original extension and URLs
- Restore works the same — the original file comes back untouched
If your theme or apps generate WebP assets, they stop slipping past the optimizer from today.
