Compressing Existing Images
If you’ve already got images in your Shopify store, here’s how to compress them manually:
- Go to the Home tab in Crush.pics.
- Use the search to find the images you want to compress.
- Click Compress from 3-dot icon on the right of the image.
Crush.pics will queue the selected images and process them using your current compression settings.
Uploading Images Manually
You can upload images to Crush.pics for compression.
How it works: Images are uploaded to Crush.pics, compressed, then automatically uploaded to your Shopify store under Content → Files.
- Click Upload Image in the upper right corner
- Once uploaded, click the 3-dot icon next to the image and select Compress
- After compression is complete, the optimized image will be available in your Shopify admin under Content → Files
What Compression Settings Are Used?
When you manually compress images, Crush.pics uses your currently saved compression preset. To change this before running a compression, head to Settings > Compression and update your preset first.

Checking Results
Once compression is complete, each image will show:
- Original size – the file size before processing
- Compressed size – the new file size
- Savings – the percentage reduction
You can view this in the image detail view or in the Activity Log.
Can I Undo a Compression?
Yes — Crush.pics keeps a copy of your original images so you can restore them at any time. See Restoring Images for details.
