Restoring Images

Last updated April 16, 2026

Crush.pics keeps a backup of your original images before compression for 30 days, so you can restore them in that time period, if needed.

Why Would I Restore an Image?

A few common reasons:

  • You want to recompress an image using a different preset
  • You’ve changed your mind about a compressed image and want the original back
  • You’re troubleshooting a visual quality issue

Restoring a Single Image

  1. Go to the App Dashboard and find the image you want to restore.
  2. Click the 3-dot icon to the right of the image line.
  3. Click Restore.

The image in your Shopify store will be replaced with the original file.

Restoring All Images

If you want to restore your entire library:

  1. Go to the Automations > Compression tab.
  2. Click Restore Images on the screen.

Crush.pics will queue the restoration and process them in the background.

How Long Are Originals Kept?

Crush.pics retains your original images cached for 30 days after an image is compressed.

After Restoring — What’s Next?

Once an image is restored, it’s treated as uncompressed again. You can:

  • Recompress it immediately using the current preset
  • Adjust your compression settings first, then recompress
  • Leave it uncompressed if you no longer need it processed

Troubleshooting Restores

If a restore doesn’t seem to update on your storefront, try clearing your browser cache or waiting a few minutes for Shopify’s CDN to propagate the change. If the issue persists, contact our support team. It could take some time if there are multiple actions being done.
